San Jose Police arrest road rage suspect after shattered glass fell into a dog’s eyes requiring emergency medical care

The San Jose Police Department announced it had arrested a road rage suspect who was allegedly responsible for a dog’s injury. According to a news release, officers responded to a road rage incident in the area of Capitol Expressway and Tully Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect vehicle occupied by two unidentified adult males initiated the road rage incident with a victim vehicle driven by a male and occupied by a female and two dogs.

At a red light, a third male driving a second suspect vehicle exited his vehicle. Then, the suspect allegedly jumped onto the victim’s car and smashed the rear windshield. The shattered glass got into one of the dog’s eyes causing injuries that required emergency medical care. The San Jose Police Department Assaults Unit took over the investigation assisted by the Crime Data Intelligence Center. The primary suspect responsible for smashing the rear window was identified as Armando Cano.

An arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect. On November 22, 2023, Armando Cano was arrested in San Jose and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony vandalism, battery, and animal abuse. Authorities have released witness video of the incident. It shows a suspect in a white shirt jump onto the back of the victim vehicle.
