Portland Police announce a suspect has been charged in the slaying of Nick Henderson in 2022

Portland Police have announced that a suspect has been charged in the 2022 homicide of Nick Henderson in the Lloyd District. According to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau, North Precinct Officers responded to the Lloyd Center parking lot for a welfare check on November 4, 2022. At the scene, officers found a deceased male who was later identified as 33-year-old Nick Henderson.

An autopsy by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the victim died of homicide by stab wounds. For the past year, detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit have been investigating the case. The investigation led them to a person of interest, 26-year-old Jeffrey Joseph McNeill of Alaska.

After McNeill was identified, detectives learned he was in the Clackamas County Jail on unrelated charges. Detectives and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Officer secured an arrest warrant for McNeill. On December 1, 2023, McNeill was transferred to Multnomah County and booked on Murder in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
