The Portland Police Bureau has announced that a shooting in the Buckman neighborhood has killed one. According to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau, Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting near SE Main Street and SE Water Avenue just before 2 PM on December 6, 2023.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim down and bystanders performing CPR. EMS reached the scene as well. Despite providing life-saving measures, the adult male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say the suspect or suspects left the scene before police were called.

Despite performing an extensive search of the area, no immediate arrests were made. One person was detained briefly during the search, but that individual was released once authorities determined they were not involved.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit responded to investigate.
