The Portsmouth Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating 33-year-old Deonte Dontrell Whitfield. Police say Whitfield is known to frequent London Oaks Apartments and may have information related to a homicide from September. According to a social media post from the Portsmouth Police Department, Whitfield is wanted for Possession of Firearm by Felon and Concealing Evidence.

On September 19, 2023 at 10 PM, officers responded to a call about a person with a gunshot wound in the 1100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue which is the London Oaks Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim passed away. Police say Whitfield may have information about the homicide.
